What is BUILT GREEN®?

BUILT GREEN® was created to encourage and facilitate sustainable building practices. Homes are evaluated across seven key areas: energy and envelope, materials and methods, indoor air quality, ventilation, waste management, water conservation, and building practices.

Participation is entirely voluntary. BUILT GREEN® works alongside the EnerGuide label to provide third-party verification or how a home performs. Together, these certifications give homeowners a clear view of their home’s energy use and environmental impact, with documentation that is credible and easy to understand.

What Gold-Level Certification Means

Most City Homes are certified at the Gold level, meaning they meet higher-than-standard targets across energy performance, construction practices, and material selection. To achieve Gold, a home must go well beyond code and earn a minimum number of points across the program’s seven categories.

In practical terms, that translates to stronger, more efficient construction. Better air quality. Smarter material choices. Lower environmental impact. And meaningful cost savings over time.
